Worship is at the heart of life at St. James.
When we gather for worship, we come together to pray, listen, sing, reflect, and share in Holy Communion. Our worship is rooted in the Episcopal tradition and shaped by a spirit of welcome, reverence, and care for one another.

When and Where
Sundays at 9:30
Each service includes scripture readings, prayers, music, a sermon, and Holy Communion. Worship follows a consistent rhythm, which helps create a sense of stability and shared participation, while remaining accessible to newcomers.
The Style of Our Worship
Worship at St. James is traditional and welcoming.
Our services follow the Book of Common Prayer, which provides structure and language for prayer that has shaped Anglican worship for generations. You do not need prior experience with this tradition to participate. Everything is spoken clearly, and you are always free to follow along, join in as you feel comfortable, or simply listen.
There is no expectation to “get it right.” Learning happens naturally over time.
Music and Prayer
Music is an important part of worship at St. James.
Through hymns and choral music, we pray together and give voice to our faith. Music supports worship rather than performing for it, helping to create space for reflection, gratitude, and praise.
Holy Communion
Holy Communion is central to our worship.
All are welcome to come forward. If you would prefer not to receive communion, you may remain seated or come forward for a blessing. You are also welcome to observe quietly from your seat.
There is no pressure to participate in any way that feels uncomfortable.
Scripture and Preaching
Scripture is read at every service, drawing from both the Old and New Testaments.
The sermon reflects on these readings and their meaning in daily life, offering thoughtful, pastoral insight rather than academic instruction. Our preaching seeks to connect faith with real experience, grounded in honesty and hope.
Participation and Posture
During worship, you may notice times when the congregation stands, sits, or responds together.
You are welcome to follow along as you are able, or simply remain seated and observe. Printed or projected materials are provided to help guide the service, and those around you will be glad to help if you have questions.
The Seasons of the Church Year
Our worship follows the seasons of the church year, including Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, and Epiphany.
These seasons shape our prayers, scripture readings, and music, offering a rhythm of reflection and celebration throughout the year. You are not expected to understand these seasons in advance; they reveal themselves naturally over time.
Worship Online
When you are unable to join us in person, you are welcome to worship with us online.
Our Sunday service is livestreamed at Our Home Page. Online worship helps us stay connected when we cannot gather physically, and we look forward to welcoming you in person when you are able.
An Invitation
Worship at St. James is offered as a shared experience, not a performance.
